Caribbean Expansion

When the economic downturn combined with the effects of the government’s policy to introduce design-build on all projects, we noticed that foreign architects were generally favoured. Rather than sit here and moan, we focused on acla:works’ unique selling point – our development and implementation of building information modeling over the last decade. We soon realised that it was time to go regional introducing BIM to the Caribbean. So, while everyone is contracting, we are expanding!

We made the decision to work with local architects in targeted islands, thus developing a formidable regional network that would offer cutting edge design tools where, at present, none exist. We also refined our mission: To be the prominent architectural firm in the Caribbean by 2020 in terms of image, perception, service level and delivery. In Barbados we have registered a branch office and have a teaming agreement with John Allsopp of amonle studio workshop. In St. Lucia, Grenada and the Grenadines we are registering another branch office and will work with Sean Compton of melon design with offices in St. Lucia and London.

It’s been ten months since we took our first steps towards Caribbean expansion and we are pleased with progress to date.
