Brian Lewis

Brian has played a leading role in the realisation of a great number of projects in Trinidad and Tobago over the past 39 years. He has brought extensive experience in design and project management to a number of largely commercial projects – among these are the landmark Gulf City Complex in San Fernando and the Hall of Justice and Financial Complex in Port of Spain. Brian is also a keen architectural photographer and has published numerous articles during his career.

Gary Turton
Gary has 18 years experience in the field of architecture. He worked on projects in the United States, Asia, and the Caribbean before joining acla as a director in 2001. His exposure to different cultures informs his preoccupation with the innovative use of technology. Gary’s approach to architecture is an exploration of the complexities of history and culture in relation to building technology, human habitation, and desire.

Junior Thompson
Junior taught at the Caribbean School of Architecture and worked for several firms in Jamaica before moving to Trinidad to take on the project architect role on acla’s award-winning Republic Bank Operations Centre in Chaguanas. He has successfully managed a number of large and complex projects over the past 22 years, including the campus of the University of Trinidad and Tobago. Junior has been with the practice since 2001, and became a director in 2007.

Peter Chandler
Peter became a director in 2008, bringing with him over 33 years of experience in architecture, design, marketing and communication, and real estate development. As head of IBM’s real estate and construction division for Northern Latin America, he gained significant experience working in design-build forms of procurement. Peter has interests in workplace and sustainable design and in building good working relationships with clients.

Mandilee Newton

After joining acla:works in 2003, Mandilee was appointed a director in July 2012. Mandilee has over 10 years experience in the industry throughout Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad. With a primary focus on sustainability, she is a LEED® Green Associate and an advocate for green design and sustainability within the Caribbean. She is a Founding Member of the Trinidad and Tobago Green Building Council and has authored and presented various papers on sustainability, including “Sustainability in the Caribbean Context” and “LEED – A Caribbean Architect’s Perspective”.
