PCS Nitrogen Model Farm
A model farm and resource centre for the knowledge-transfer of small-scale sustainable farming to local farmers. The design focuses on sustainability and context, using passive green design and an industrial aesthetic to create distinct vocabularies for the services buildings and resource centre. The buildings are oriented to promote natural ventilation and day lighting. Low-impact stormwater management is practiced through the use of open grid pavement, bioswales, overflow ponds and underground storage tanks. In addition, rainwater is harvested and low-flow plumbing fixtures are used to reduce water usage.
